Find your pause....

As a mom sometimes it feels like I'm constantly moving or if I'm not the multitasking to do list is beckoning me… move, keep swimming, the engine is warm and running, work with the inertia and be mindful to not let yourself get swallowed by all the life things building up.

Nursing a toddler is our pause in a busy world. I've read how they need these little decompression moments. I think of it like a landing pad as the fly through their impressive brain expanding learning universe. Refueling. Some days it's more like a race car on a track that pulls off to get new tires and whatever else in the pit before zooming off again for wild fast maneuverings.

When he looks at me, in the middle of showing alllllll the things he's playing with and makes the milk sign… I'm like yeah buddy it's been a lot. We've done A LOT by 8 AM. Lol. Let's plug back in and ground.

My own yoga practice comes while he's napping usually or a little fun chanting or movement together in the short attention span a 15-month-old has.

These toddler nursing moments are like diving underwater in a loud packed swimming pool. Instant withdrawal from the senses. Instantly. It's pretty impressive how quickly he goes from wild child to melting on me. And there's my heart melting right along with his little body collapsing in my arms.

I get to be still. It's quite in my ears and head. It's my only yoga some days. Breathing deep and sitting still. He's not wiggling or demanding I walk here or there with him. I'm not trying to do dishes with him on my hip or under my feet opening and reaching for more information here there and everywhere. He's just being with mommy. My little human is just being… in this busy world of doing.
